Chapter 5
Gerald heard voices in the kitchen when he woke up the next morning. Aunt Queen told Gerald to wake up and get ready. He said “Tell her to go away.” Gerald went into the kitchen and saw his mother, and near the kitchen window he saw a man with cowboy boots. Then he heard a little voice say “Hi.” The little girl was wearing was an oversized clothes and black tights. When Aunt Queen asked the man to say grace he mumbled left the kitchen to go outside and smoke a death stick. Monique, Gerald’s mother, said to Gerald that the little girl sitting beside him was his sister and Gerald said “I have no sister.” Monique also said that the man that had left was her husband.
Chapter 6
In chapter 6 Aunt Queen is left with the little girl named Angel and Gerald. Aunt Queen has a heart attack.
Chapter 7
Gerald and Angel come inside for a glass of water. But instead they see Aunt Queen lying on the floor. They call the paramedics. Before they make it to the hospital Aunt Queen died in the ambulance.
Chapter 8
It’s two weeks until Christmas and Gerald moves in with his new family. Gerald finds out life with his new family is not easy. He learns that Angel is often abused by Jordan and finds out that’s why she always wears black tights. Monique does not pay attention when Jordan abuses Angel, all she does is sit in the room and let him do it. Jordan also drinks a lot.
Chapter 9
Its Christmas day, and this is Gerald’s first time not having Christmas without Aunt Queen in six years. Jordan gets Angel a cat for Christmas and names it Tiger. This was the first time Gerald had seen Jordan give anybody anything. Gerald and Angel messed up Angel’s bed so that Jordan wouldn’t come in the room late at night to feel on Angel.
