Chapter 1

In chapter one of Forged by Fire Gerald burned down his apartment.  What happened was that Gerald was searching for his G.I. action figure when he found the lighter his mother was looking for earlier.  He started playing with it and then it lit. Then the flames got bigger and one curtain caught on fire.  Pretty soon the whole apartment was on fire.  Their next door neighbor saw the flames and thought Gerald might be in there which he was.  So the neighbor got the boy out and took him to the hospital.   If he had been in there a little bit longer he would have died.

Chapter 2

In chapter two Gerald’s mother went to jail for child endangerment and child abandonment, so Gerald was forced to live with his aunt.  Gerald goes to the hospital after the fire and gets treated for inhalation of smoke.

Chapter 3

At Aunt Queen’s house Gerald liked to play on her wheelchair ramp.  Gerald built the go-cart himself and he liked to ride it down Aunt Queen’s ramp then he got bored of that so he rode down his neighbor’s driveway which was a huge hill.  As he was riding down he noticed a black Cadillac and a green Ford coming down the road they both ran over Gerald’s go-cart, but Gerald he was thrown from the cart and hit the trashcan.  The owner of the green Ford got out making sure that Gerald was okay, but the Cadillac kept riding.  The owner of the green Ford went up to the house and Aunt Queen got very mad and screamed at him.  Then Aunt Queen told Gerald that she had an unexpected surprise coming tomorrow.

Chapter 4

Aunt Queen told Gerald that his mother was coming tomorrow.  She told him that his mother had gone to jail for child abandonment.  She also told him she had been out of jail for a year getting her life back together.  Then she told him to go out back to the garage and bring her old sewing machine to her she said it was under the green blanket.  What he found was not a sewing machine but, a shiny, red new ten-speed bicycle.

Chapter 5

He heard voices in the kitchen when he woke up the next morning.  Aunt Queen told Gerald to wake up and get ready.  He said “Tell her to go away.”  Gerald went into the kitchen and saw his mother, and near the kitchen window he saw a man with cowboy boots.  Then he heard a little voice say “Hi.”  The little girl was wearing was an oversized clothes and black tights.  When Aunt Queen asked the man to say grace he mumbled left the kitchen to go outside and smoke a death stick.  Monique, Gerald’s mother, said to Gerald that the little girl sitting beside him was his sister and Gerald said “I have no sister.”  Monique also said that the man that had left was her husband.

Chapter 6

In chapter 6 Aunt Queen is left with the little girl named Angel and Gerald.  Aunt Queen has a heart attack.

Chapter 7

Gerald and Angel come inside for a glass of water.  But instead they see Aunt Queen lying on the floor.  They call the paramedics.  Before they make it to the hospital Aunt Queen died in the ambulance.

Chapter 8

It’s two weeks until Christmas and Gerald moves in with his new family. Gerald finds out life with his new family is not easy.  He learns that Angel is often abused by Jordan and finds out that’s why she always wears black tights.  Monique does not pay attention when Jordan abuses Angel, all she does is sit in the room and let him do it.  Jordan also drinks a lot.

Chapter 9

Its Christmas day, and this is Gerald’s first time not having Christmas without Aunt Queen in six years.  Jordan gets Angel a cat for Christmas and names it Tiger.  This was the first time Gerald had seen Jordan give anybody anything.  Gerald and Angel messed up Angel’s bed so that Jordan wouldn’t come in the room late at night to feel on Angel.

Chapter 10

Jordan tried to fix Angel’s bed, but he couldn’t.  So Angel moved in with Gerald and they shared bunk beds.  Angel got the chicken pox, so Monique had to take off of work a couple days of work to see her.  But one day while Monique went to the store Jordan stayed with Angel went to her room and told her to take off her shirt.  He started rubbing on her back and he told her “It’s been a long time girl, I’ve missed you.”  Angel tried calling Tiger but Jordan had put him into the stove and told her “If she said a word about them he would kill the cat and stormed out the door.

Chapter 11

When Gerald got home he could tell something was wrong with Angel so he fixed her something to eat and tried to talk to her.  Angel had been sick for a long time; Monique said that if she was sick for one more day that she would take her to the clinic.  Early the next morning Gerald went to school early, while sitting on the front steps of school a long silver Buick pulls up and a man and get out.  The boy goes around the back of school and hits the shower, and the man approaches Gerald.  He asks him what’s wrong and Gerald starts telling everything he knows.  Gerald and the man go to the police.

Chapter 12

Jordan was home and didn’t have to work that day.  Angel had the chicken pox and Jordan stayed with her.  That day he was supposed to take care of her but instead he was molesting her in her room with her radio on and the door closed.  The radio was so loud that Jordan didn’t hear the front door open, Gerald quietly opened Angel’s bedroom door to find her laying on the bed and Jordan heading toward the end of the bed.  The two police officers then arrested Jordan for child molestation.  Then Monique doesn’t believe them and calls them liars.

Chapter 13

Jordan goes to court.  Angel and Gerald have to testify.  Jordan is found guilty of all accounts.  He goes to jail for 6-10 years.

Chapter 14

Angel has just turned to jail.  Monique didn’t really pay that much attention to the kids now that Jordan was gone. Gerald got a job, and Angel loved to dance.  Gerald was also on the basketball team.  Monique had a new job answering the telephone at the YMCA.

Angel starts a new dance program and Monique pays her to start.

Chapter 15

Gerald, Rob, Andy, BJ, and Tyrone had become friends because they all played basketball.  They decided that they were hungry after they had come from the movies Saturday night, so they went to an all-you-can-eat restaurant and almost ate everything in sight. Gerald went to pick up Angel everyday from dance practice.  One this particular day when Gerald went to pick up Angel from practice, she had big news she was starting in a play.  She was so excited when she got home, but when she walked in the house her grin dropped.  There sitting on their sofa was the one and only Jordan Sparks.

Chapter 16

When they saw Jordan they were shocked.  Angel immediately ran to her room and started crying.  Gerald was very angry.  Gerald called Mr. Washington and began to speak with him, he told him that Jordan was back and he gets visitation rights.

Chapter 17

Gerald had a basketball game.  Angel and Kiara cheered for them.

Chapter 18

When school was out, Jordan moved back in.  Angel and Tiger were the only ones at home.  Gerald had just come home and was asking about everyone.  In the background they heard sirens getting nearer and nearer.  They run outside to find that Monique has just been hit by a taxi, because she was out getting Jordan a pack of cigarettes.  She is in the hospital.

Chapter 19

Monique is out of the hospital and is now on medication.  She becomes addicted to the medication thanks to Jordan.  Angel is now friends with Rob’s brother Kiara.  Angel is spending the weekend with Kiara.

Chapter 20

It’s October and extremely hot.  Gerald switches the pills Monique has been taking with vitamins.  She never knew the difference.  When Jordan came home he noticed that the air conditioner was missing.  He asked Monique about it but she never noticed.  He slapped Monique with the back of his hand and knocked her unto the bed.  Then he walked into another room and hit Gerald with his fist and walked out the apartment.  Gerald decided to call Mr. Washington.

Chapter 21

Gerald has a basketball game.  The next day the boys have dates, and they have just figured out that Rob drinks.  Before Rob went on his date he had to drop some people off.  His girlfriend calls Gerald and asks him has he seen him and Gerald says no.  Then they find out Rob was killed in a car accident but everyone else that was in the car was safe.

Chapter 22

They have Rob’s funeral.  It was over 500 people that attended the funeral.  One day when Angel was coming home from school, her babysitter was not there.  So she had to go home.  When she came home she discovered that no one was home so she decided to boil some hot dogs.  Then she heard someone at the door and there was Jordan.  He came closer to her and said “It’s been a long time since I’ve had a female companionship.’’ She started screaming and he told her “No one came hear you.”  He started dragging and kicking her to her room.  She yelled “I’m your daughter you can’t do this to me.  While this was happening the pot of hot dogs had boiled over and the house had caught a fire.

Chapter 23

Gerald sees smoke and he knows it’s from his apartment.  So he runs up and finds that the house is full of smoke.  So then he runs to Angel’s bedroom to find her and Jordan.  But Jordan didn’t know that the house was on fire, so when Gerald said that he ran out the room heading toward the door.        Gerald grabs Angel and they head toward the door.  Gerald also hit something on his way out.

Chapter 24

Jordan dies. They live happily ever after.
