Chapter 1- 4
In chapter one, Matilda
awoke with a mosquito buzzing in her ear and the drowned out sound of
her mother calling her from downstairs.
She also found a dead rat. In
chapter two, Matilda’s mother noticed that their young servant girl
Polly was missing. Everyone
started assuming things about where she could be, not knowing the
devastating truth. In the third chapter, the news had come, Polly was
dead. Everyone mourned all day. In the fourth chapter, Matilda
does the work in the coffee shop that was left behind by Polly.
While she was working she could hear the predictions the gentlemen made
of Polly's death.
