Chapter 1

In chapter one of Forged by Fire Gerald burned down his apartment. This happened because Gerald was looking for his G.I. Joe whenever he found his mother's lighter. He started playing with it and then it lit. Then the flames got bigger and one curtain caught on fire. Soon enough the whole home was on fire. Their next door neighbor saw the flames and thought Gerald might be in there which he was. So the neighbor got the boy out and took him to the hospital. If he had been in there a little bit longer he would have died.

Chapter 2

Gerald goes to the hospital after the fire and gets treated for inhalation of smoke. Also in this chapter Gerald’s mother goes to jail for child endangerment and child abandonment, so Gerald was forced to live with his aunt.
