Our Trip To Grand Bay
To the right everyone is looking for peat at the bottom of the swamp. Peat is a type of plant that feels like really thick hair. We are supposed to be looking for bugs inside of the peat.
We had to go to the top of a tower and bird watch. They gave us binoculars to watch from the top of the tower. My group identified three different types of birds.
To the left, we all had an assignment that told us how to find the acidic level in the swamp. This meant we had to collect some deep water and some surface water and then experiment with different chemicals. We also had to find the temperature by using a thermometer.
Grand Bay was a wonderful educational experience. I learned a lot of things at Grand Bay. I learned that each inch of peat represented fifty years! This could tell you how old the swamp is in different areas of the swamp.

We had to walk a long way to get to the tower. We all had different teams and each team was given a workbook. Most of our assignments in the workbook were to be done at the tower.
