South Georgia

In this section, you will explore the different types of soils that we have in our south Georgia region. The soils that are here in our region are some of the most important things that exists. The soils are there to help all our trees grow that are given to industries that make them into boards that make houses and many other every day things that we use.

In our south Georgia region, the most common type of soil is the Tifton-Alapaha-Dothan. Which will nearly level out with other gently sloping soils that have a sandy surface and a loamy underlining. Many of these soils will be found near drainage ways of uplands.

The Dothan-Fuquay-Nankin soil type is another common type of soil in the south Georgia region. It will lie almost level with soils that have a sandy or loamy surface and a loamy or clayey underlining. Mostly found on uplands.

The third most common type of soils in our South Georgia region is the Osier-Pelham-Rains soil type. It levels out soils that have predominantly a sandy surface layer and loamy or sandy underlying layers. They are usually found on bottom lands and on stream terraces.
